Percussive Arts Society

Students from our studio attend the Percussive Arts Society International Convention (PASIC) every year to learn and enrich themselves as percussionists and musicians. The past two years the studio has sent our upper division members to PASIC as ambassadors of the School of Music and the University. The studio also participates in the Tennessee Day of Percussion each year through the Collegiate All-Star ensemble. Students often perform in PAS competitions and collective ensembles.

DCI/WGI

Over half of the MTSU Percussion Studio are currently marching or have marched DCI/WGI in the past. A large number of studio alumni design, write, or teach different marching ensembles. Our studio encourages students who are interested in these activities to participate while balancing the curriculum of a music student. The studio recognizes these students through our studio board, which is posted in the music building, and in support in local performances.

Public Performances

The MTSU Percussion Studio is always looking for opportunities to go out and perform for the community. The studio performs in local public schools every semester, as well as several performances in restaurants or parks. Our students studying latin percussion perform several times a semester, along with the salsa band. The steel drum band has performed with the Nashville Symphony twice, in the BNA airport, and for the Tennessee School for the Blind.
